Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch (about the weight of a nickel), restrictions in the craniosacral system are released to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. Cerebralspinal fluid is pumped through the system (i.e., cranium, spine and sacrum) creating a pulse or craniosacral rhythm (CSR). CST techniques aim to balance the CSR so that the cerebralspinal fluid flows freely through the system. By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. Gentle styles of massage like CST can produce profound release and realignment in the body. The biodynamic approach provides insight to how physical and energetic levels of functioning are interrelated.
